Carol Gluck, Former Specially-Invited Professor, Awarded the 6th International Prize for Japanese Studies by the National Institutes for the Humanities

The winners of the 6th International Prize for Japanese Studies by the National Institutes for the Humanities were announced last November, and Carol Gluck, Former Specially-Invited Professor (George Sansom Professor of History at Columbia University), was selected as a winner.
The National Institutes for the Humanities (NIHU) awards the NIHU International Prize for Japanese Studies in cooperation with the Kuraray Foundation, with the aim of promoting the international development of Japanese studies and deepening and disseminating understanding of Japanese culture. The prize is awarded to researchers based outside Japan who have made outstanding academic achievements in the field of Japanese studies, including philosophy, religion, thought, art, literature, language, history, folklore, society, and the environment, and who have made a significant contribution to the international development of Japanese studies.
Professor Carol Gluck was a Visiting Research Professor at the Consortium for Asian and African Studies (CAAS) at TUFS during the winter quarter of the 2016 academic year, and conducted research while at the university.

◆Information on the International Prize for Japanese Studies Award Ceremony and Commemorative Lecture
The award ceremony and commemorative lecture will be held at the Japan Academy on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
